Professional Activities
He contributed tremendously to the establishment of Public Health department at MMU in 2005. He was the first head of PH department who single handedly developed the first curriculum for BSc. PH. Before Joining MMU, he was working as a District Surveillance officer for Kabarole district, where he is still doing surveillance work. He is rembered for having cordinated the investigation and control of the pandemic Influeza (HIN1) in 2009 which hit Nyankasura school and Kyebambe girls. He has used his vast experience in district health systems management to train and produce skilled Public Health professionals capable of meeting the organisational challenges in modern Health Services Management.
Dr Tumwebaze is the first PhD product of Mountains of the Moon University through staff development initiative. He has conducted anumber of operational studies in Health Service delivery of which the findings have been used at district and national level to make evidence based health intervations.

Service to the community
Has worked with PH students to conduct community diagnosis studies in Rwimi s/county, Kibito S/C, Rutete s/c and Bukuku s/c. Study findings have been used by local authorities to improve community health status.
