MMU Minimum Entry Requirements

MOUNTAINS OF THE MOON UNIVERSITY

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATE, DIPLOMA , DEGREE AND POST GRADUATE COURSES

CERTIFICATE COURSES: 1 YEAR

The minimum entry requirement for admission to an ordinary certificate course is a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes which include three credits obtained at the same sitting.

Certificate in ICT for Entrepreneurship (CICTE)

Candidates intending to apply for the above certificate must have passed five subjects with at least three credits of which one should be in Mathematics. Those without a credit in Mathematics must have a certificate in computer Basics from a recognized institution.

Certificate in Public Administration (CPAD)

Candidates intending to apply for the above certificate must have passed five subjects at ‘O’ level including either Mathematics or English.

Certificate in Business Management (CBM)

Candidates intending to apply for the above certificate must have passed five subjects at ‘O’ level including either Mathematics or English.

Certificate in Tourism and Hotel (CTM)

Candidates intending to apply for the above certificate must have passed five subjects at ‘O’ level including either Mathematics or English.

Certificate in Rural Micro-Finance (CRM)

Candidates intending to apply for the above certificate must have passed five subjects at ‘O’ level including either Mathematics or English.

DIPLOMA COURSES: 2 YEARS

Candidates intending to apply for the Diploma programs must have an ‘A’ level Certificate with a minimum of one principal pass. Should also have passed five subjects at O’level with at least three credits.

Diploma in Public Administration (DPAD)

Applicants must fulfill the following requirements to join the above course:

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes
Have at least one principal pass at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent. This excludes a principle pass in Fine Art.

Diploma in Business Management (DBM)

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes
Have at least one principal pass one of which should be either in Mathematics, Economics or Entrepreneurship at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent.

Diploma in Computer Science (DCS)

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five subjects passed including a credit in mathematics. A certificate in computer basics from a recognized institution will be an added advantage for those without a credit in mathematics.
Have at least one principal pass either in Mathematics or Economics at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent.

Diploma in Floriculture (DFLOR)

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes.
Have at least one principal pass in Agriculture at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent.

Diploma in Rural Microfinance (DRM)

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes
Have at least one principal pass, one of which should be either in Mathematics, Economics or Entrepreneurship at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent.

Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management (DTHM)

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes
Have at least one principal pass at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent. This excludes a principle pass in Fine Art.

Diploma in Primary Education (DEP)

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes
Grade III Registered teachers with at least two years working experience

DEGREE COURSES: 3 YEARS

Candidates intending to apply for the degree programs must have an ‘A’ Level Certificate with a minimum of two principal passes, obtained at the same sitting.

Bachelor of Science in Horticulture with Mgt & Entrepreneurship (BSc. HORT)

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes
At least two principle passes at an Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in Agriculture, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry, and Physics. Preferably one of which should be in either Biology or Agriculture.
Diploma holders in Agriculture, Agricultural education, and Forestry from a recognized Agricultural institution. Career farmers or gardeners with extensive industrial experience can apply, but will have to sit and pass the mature entry examination.

Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSc. PH)

In order for one to join the course, the applicant must fulfill the following requirements:

Have a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes
Have “A” level education with at least two principle passes in Biology and Chemistry.
Have a first or second class Diploma or its equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution in Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry or Fisheries qualify for admission. This candidate should have at least two years of relevant working experience.

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. (BSc. Agric.)

Have a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes.
At least two principle passes at an Advanced Certificate of Education in either: Biology, Agriculture, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry, and Physics. Preferably one of which should be in Biology or Agriculture.
Diploma holders in Agriculture, Agricultural education, and Forestry from a recognized Agricultural institution. Career farmers or gardeners with extensive industrial experience can apply, but will have to produce a National Aptitude Test Certificate (Mature Entrance Examinations).

16. Bachelor of Public Administration (BPAD)

Sat U.C.E examination and obtained a certificate with at least five passes.
Have at least two principal passes in Arts subjects at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent obtained at the same sitting. This excludes a Principal pass in Fine Art.
Hold a 1^st or 2^nd class Diploma or its equivalent in a related field from a recognized institution.
A student is required to sit and pass National Aptitude Test ( Mature Entrance Examinations).

17. Bachelor of Business Management (BBM)

Sat U.C.E examination and obtained a certificate with at least five passes.
Have at least two principal passes one of which should be either Mathematics or Economics at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.
Hold a 1^st or 2^nd class Diploma or its equivalent in a related field from a recognized institution.
A student is required to sit and pass National Aptitude Test ( Mature Entrance Examinations).

18. Bachelor of Social & Comt’y Dev’t (BSCD)

Sat U.C.E examination and obtained a certificate with at least five passes
Have at least two principal passes in Arts subjects at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent obtained at the same sitting. This excludes a Principal pass in Fine Art.
Hold a 1^st or 2^nd class Diploma or its equivalent in a related field from a recognized institution.
A student is required to sit and pass National Aptitude Test ( Mature Entrance Examinations).

19. Bachelor of Arts with Education (BA. EDUC.)

Sat U.C.E examination and obtained a certificate with at least five passes
Have at least two principal passes in Arts subjects at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent obtained at the same sitting.

20. Bachelor of Science with Education (BSc. EDUC)

Sat U.C.E examination and obtained a certificate with at least five passes
Have at least two principal passes in Science subjects at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent obtained at the same sitting.

21. Bachelor of Education (BEd)

Sat U.C.E examination and obtained a certificate with at least five passes
Have at least two principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent obtained at the same sitting.
Hold a 1^st or 2^nd class Diploma or its equivalent in a related field from a recognized institution.
A student is required to sit and pass National Aptitude Test ( Mature Entrance Examinations).

22. Bachelor of Banking & Development finance (BBDF)

A Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent with at least a pass in Mathematics
A Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education with at least two principle passes in either Mathematics or Economics or its equivalent.
A 1^st or 2^nd class diploma or its equivalent in a business field with passes in business mathematics or statistics from a recognized tertiary institution.

23. Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS)

Sat U.C.E examination and obtained a certificate with at least five passes
Must Have a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with two Principal passes in Math and any one of the following subjects Economics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, Technical Drawing and Food and Nutrition
Must Posses a First class or Second class Diploma in Computer science, Engineering, Business studies, Information Technology, Statistics or any other IT related fiel

24. Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT)

Sat U.C.E examination and obtained a certificate with at least five passes
At least two principal passes at the same sitting in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in any two subjects excluding Fine Art.
Applicants should possess at least a second class (lower division) diploma in any discipline from Mountains of the Moon University or any other recognized Institution.

25. Bachelor of Business Computing (BBC)

Sat U.C.E examination and obtained a certificate with at least five passes. A credit in Mathematics at O’ level is mandatory.
Must Have At least two principal passes at the same sitting in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in any two subjects with Economics inclusive.
Applicants Must Posses at least a second class (lower division) diploma in business or any other related field from a recognized Institution.

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMAS: 1 YEAR

26. Post Graduate Dip. In Public Admin & Mgt (PGDPAM)

Entry onto the PGDPAM programme is by application and admission. Students are expected to have:

A first- or second-class degree or a qualification deemed to be equivalent.
MUST have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualifying full-time work experience of a responsible nature.

27. Post Graduate Dip. In Human Resource Mgt (PGDHRM)

Entry onto the DHRM programme is by application and admission. Students are expected to have:

A first- or second-class degree or a qualification deemed to be equivalent.
MUST have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualifying full-time work experience of a responsible nature.

28. Post Graduate Dip. In Financial Management (PGDFM)

Entry onto the PGDFM programme is by application and admission. Students are expected to have:

A first- or second-class degree or a qualification deemed to be equivalent.
MUST have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualifying full-time work experience of a responsible nature
Must have a background of Business studies.

MASTERS: 2 YEARS

29. Masters of Business Admin. (MBA)

Entry onto the MBA programme is by application and admission. Students are expected to have:

A first- or second-class degree, or a qualification deemed to be equivalent, or passes in three of the MBA courses (one of which must be a core course).
A minimum of 3 years' post-qualifying full-time work experience of a responsible nature.

30. Masters of Public Admin. (MPA)

Entry onto the MPA programme is by application and admission. Students are expected to have:

A first- or second-class degree, or a qualification deemed to be equivalent, or passes in three of the MPA courses (one of which must be a core course).
A minimum of 3 years' post-qualifying full-time work experience of a responsible nature.

31. Masters in Education Leadership and managment 2years
