INTRODUCTION
Mountains of the Moon is a community based University licensed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). It officially started its operations in March 2005 with only 16 students and since then the University has grown from strength to strength. Population of students is now in hundreds, the university now partly operates in its own structures at Saaka main campus, it is linked not only to universities here in Uganda but even abroad. These overseas connections and those within the Rwenzori region really define us, as a community University that is bent to serving the educational needs not only of this region but the entire globe.
A big number of our students hail from poverty stricken homes and this is evidenced by high rates of students who drop out every semester due to failure to pay university dues. The bursaries therefore, will enable eligible students realize their educational dreams, the scheme will enable students who for financial and other reasons may not otherwise have considered university as an option.
VISION OF THE UNIVERSITY
The VISION of the University is to be a Leading Centre of Excellence in teaching, research, and service to the Community.
MISSION
The MISSION is to produce graduates well trained, educated, innovative, Practical, morally and spiritually balanced, socially responsible and problem solvers with competence, confidence, commitment, enthusiasm, team spirit, respect, integrity and honesty.
