Mountains of the Moon University

Introduction

The program is designed to equip students to teach in secondary schools, in vocational education and training, and can also lead to staff training and development programmes in Arts Education.

At the end of the programme, students will be awarded a Bachelors Arts with Education degree.

Course Objectives

The main objectives of this course is to:

• produce professional teachers who are independent, innovative, adventurous and socially conscious and responsible individuals.
  
  
• placing premium on character building by focusing on scholarship and research, excellent teaching, integrity and hard work, physical fitness and spiritual well being.
  
  
• equip each student teacher with study skills, entrepreneurial skills, computer literacy, language skills, culture and ethics.

Course Duration

The program is designed to last a minimum of three academic years; each year having two semesters.

Students specialize in two teaching subjects at secondary level, choosing one of the combinations below, according to their qualifications:

• Option 1  Economics and History
• Option 2 Economics and Geography
• Option 3 Economics and C.R.E
• Option 4 History and C.R.E
• Option 5 History and Geography
• Option 6 Business Studies (Double main)
• Option 7 Music Dance and Drama
• Option 8 Literature and English Language Studies
• Option 9   Art and design (Double main)

Admission Requirements

Applicants who wish to obtain admission directly after Advanced level secondary education for a Degree of Bachelor of Arts with Education must have obtained:

• An “O” level Certificate or its equivalent from a recognized Institution,
• Two Advanced Principal Passes at “A” Level obtained at one sitting.
• Minimum weighted points set by Mountains of the Moon University Admission Board.

Career Prospects for Graduates

Graduates from this program can be absorbed in government service or by the private sector involved in Education here in Uganda and abroad.
