Diploma in Public Administration (DPAD)

Introduction

The Diploma in Public Administration is designed to develop graduates with a solid foundation in broad-based areas of Business Management and Public Administration. Communication Skills and ICT skills are stressed, as well as the general course of Ethics.

This course provides a platform for students to advance to a higher stage of career development or practicing at this level.

Course Objectives

The major objective of this program is give undergraduate students specialized and professional knowledge and skills in the field of public administration. By the end of the program students will be equipped with techniques and capacity to administer public enterprises and to apply the knowledge acquired in dealing with day to day administrative aspects of their societies.

Course Duration

The entire study period of study of the diploma program extends over a period of two years. Each academic year consists of two semesters of seventeen weeks each the last two weeks of each semester being devoted to examinations.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must fulfill either of the following requirements to join the program:

Direct Entry Scheme

  • Sat U.C.E examination (or equivalent) and obtained a certificate in it.

  • Have at least four passes, one of which is English language, obtained at the same sitting, or its equivalent.

Certificate holder’s scheme

  • One Principal pass in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) and a certificate in related studies from a recognized institution.

Career Prospects for Graduates

The Public Administration course prepares graduates for diverse employment environments including both the government, private and non government, non for profit organizations. Graduates can be absorbed in Local Governments and local NGOs operating in the country.
