The University has a 5-year Strategic Plan to map out the ‘way forward’ for the University, establish strategic objectives and strategies to achieve them. Within the plan there are three main objectives:
Building of the New Saaka Campus
Relocation from currently rented premises at Kabudaire in Fort Portal to a new campus at Saaka are progressing well and two buildings are currently fully funded and under construction for occupation in 2009.
Achievement of Charter Status
The university is currently working to convert its Provisional Licence into Chartered Status. This requires us to meet National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) requirements. These include a range of indicators for Quality and Institutional Capacity that are graded by NCHE from ‘ideal’ to ‘acceptable’. The strategy will achieve ‘acceptable’ or better for these criteria.
Growth and Sustainability of the University
With already over 600 students, MMU is well on target to grow its critical mass in order to be operationally sustainable. We are well along the path to be able to support the programmes, research and academic staff quality for a Chartered University. The University is confident that it can develop its 5-year plan to grow to 2,000 students. MMU does not want to prejudice its community responsibilities by becoming highly commercialized to achieve sustainability, although it will continue to develop commercial training, consultancy and partnerships to support its operations.Copyright © MMXI
